Have a Seat

A good idea that has been executed with style. I love the idea of this project as much as I do the architecturally-styled benches they’ve created.

YAF is currently working to place a new bus bench on Glenwood Avenue!

Have-A-Seat's History...

Two years ago an article in the N&O revealing the limited number of benches at CAT bus stops sparked an idea now known as Have a Seat. There was a group of young and talented designers seeking a creative outlet, what better way than to serve the community? The Young Architects Forum, with it's group of passionate and dedicated young architects and interns tackled this deficiency and began the -longer than we imagined- process of working with the City of Raleigh, designing, fabricating, managing and finally installing two bus benches at CAT bus stops. This first of many installations will serve as a guide to further develop our bus bench project with the goal of improving and serving the communities we live and work in.

This project would not have been possible without the help of countless volunteers and the financial support of AIA Triangle. We would like to personally thank Erin Sterling, Daniel Cordon, Adrian Matlock, Andrew Jamison, Davis Hammer, Grant Lewis, Juliane Kuminski, Vinny Petrarca, Brittany Smith, Siler Ramseur, Robin Koch, Henry Newell, Cydney Clemons, Jedidiah Gant, Jon Zellweger, Jessica Wells, Tyler Wells, Andrew Fulcher, Khalid Almo, Cecilia Martinic, Heather Rule, Chris Johnson, Christian Karkow, and the many more that have contributed to the success of the project.

If you would like to participate in Have A Seat or learn more about the project, please don't hesitate to contact YAF leadership. We can't wait to have you help!
