Architect Outreach at Hilburn Academy

YAF and the AIA-T PK-12 Educational Outreach Task Force are collaborating and are seeking volunteers for an upcoming activity!

Hilburn Academy, a WCPSS STEM Middle School in NW Raleigh, is looking for architects or young design professionals who have interest and/or expertise in residential design to present their ideas in a discussion format of how architects approach and undertake the residential design/planning process.

7th grade students are doing a project designing a home for a family in a particular site context. The students’ tasks are to design scaled drawings, a 3-D model, and a narrative component discussing sustainability features (energy, water, materials etc).

Ideally, we would like to have two professionals at each session who can share specific examples from their residential design work experiences in working with clients.

The class time is from 8:15 - 9:45 am.
